The ONG international FEE (Foundation for environmental education) awards Francavilla al Mare with the Blue Flag 2021.

The award is dedicated to the european coastlines that satisfy a specific quality criteria such as clean waters, clean beaches, services and influx of tourists.

Other two coastline cities part of the Abruzzo region were awarded the blue flag 2021: Pescara and Martinsicuro. Both locations are close to Francavilla al Mare.
